vdp Fact Book Pfandbrief 2011/2012 out now

Given the proposals that have been made for new capital rules for banks and insurance companies, their refinancing is the greatest strategic challenge the banking industry will have to master in the years ahead.
For this reason, regulation-related topics are addressed in no less than three expert contributions in the brand-new vdp Pfandbrief Fact Book 2011/2012. Besides analyzing in depth the implications of Basel III for Pfandbrief-based business, the article on Solvency II examines the new capital regime for insurance companies and the specific impact it will have with regard to the Pfandbrief. The rating agencies and how they are regulated are the subject of another contribution.
With the Pfandbrief issuers’ round table on p. 56ff, a new format not used in any of the previous editions of the vdp fact book has been introduced. German real estate assets account for the greater part (almost 80%) of the cover pools for Mortgage Pfandbriefe. Reason enough to dedicate one contribution to more recent developments in and the outlook for individual segments of the German real estate market. Yet another article, meanwhile, focuses on the representation of Pfandbriefe in bond indices. After taking a close look at individual indices, the authors conclude with thoughts on exchange traded funds (ETFs) on Pfandbriefe.
